Happy New Year, everyone!
2025 is over (along with the short break we had), and 2026 has arrived. What do I expect from it? Well, I can give you a few hints:
- The smooth package for R/Python/other languages. I’ve been working on this with several great friends/colleagues, and there will be some surprises in 2026… maybe even sooner than you expect!
- Next steps for my career. As you know, I’ve decided to leave Lancaster University (and with it, academia altogether), and there are several potential pathways I am currently considering. I hope to announce something about that soon.
- New papers. I currently have around 10 papers in the works – some are more technical, others are more fundamental. I plan to finish several of these, and I’ll share updates once they are submitted to journals.
- Textbook on Statistics for Business Analytics (this one). I’ve been working on this with Alisa Yusupova, and recently Kandrika Pritularga agreed to help write several chapters. I hope we can complete this project in 2026, making the book freely available online and publishing it via Chapman and Hall/CRC.
- More posts on forecasting. I know I’ve been silent for the last few months, but that’s because I’ve been trying to figure out my next steps. I have several drafts ready and plan to start releasing them soon.
- Music album. I’ve collected enough material for a second album (here is the first one). I plan to record the tracks and hope to release the album in 2026.
- And more… I’m working on something completely different, which I hope will reach the release stage by the end of 2026.
As you see, I have many ambitious plans, but I hope to finish at least some of them this year. I’ll be sharing updates as soon as possible. So, stay tuned and have a great 2026!
